LEGO Set Reviews!

Hi All, I’m back! I really apologize for not being able to make posts frequently, I already have dozens of topics and content planned out, but not enough time to write them! I’m gonna try my best to bring ,my posting up to about 4 posts a week, but I’m not certain if I can do this consistently, so I’ll try my best!

As you all know, this blog is gonna feature content related to all things LEGO (Star Wars), and one of the features is LEGO Set Reviews.

So basically, I thought that doing reviews of LEGO sets I have, would be a good way for me to keep this blog active, and at the same time, informative, so starting next week, I will be posting reviews of all the LEGO Star Wars sets I have and working my way through each final product with a variety of criteria to judge the set, with a final score of 1 (Being “Avoid this set, burn them if you can”) to 10 (Being “Must buy at the next possible opportunity”).

Because I collect only LEGO Star Wars sets, I won’t be doing reviews for any other themes, but if I can, I may invite friends who own other LEGO Theme sets to do guest reviews on a special basis.

Also, I will be starting from the 2013 LEGO Star Wars sets, and working my way up to the newest wave of LEGO sets, thats around 30+ Set Reviews I have to complete, each a few hundred words, before the next wave!

In addition, as an added bonus, every month, I will make a review of an older LEGO Star Wars set that I own, that is not available on the market anymore as a sort of “Throwback” or opportunity for some of us older LEGO fans to gloat over having awesome sets that no one can buy anymore!

So, now for the judging criteria. I will be using a criteria for each segment of the review, going into detail regarding the Set itself.

The 10242 LEGO Creator Mini Cooper!

For all of you LEGO Creator fans out there, or even those who just want another vehicle to add to your collection, this is definitely a set for you. Personally, I would give this set a miss so I could divert my funds to more important stuff (ie. LEGO Star Wars), but this is definitely one of those sets many collectors wait years for.

Hi all, I’m back! Sorry for the delay in entries, as you all know, I’m still a teen, as such, i’m only able to attend to this blog and create new material once or twice a week.

Today, i’ll be talking about LEGO Investment, general matters about selling or investing in Lego, as well as some general purchasing guidelines i follow when buying a set for my collection, or my investment.

LEGO is a very popular toy among adults and children alike. Some people go to great lengths and expense, and spend thousands of dollars to fund this expensive hobby. 

LEGO Investing is basically purchasing LEGO sets and keeping them for a prolonged period of time, and then selling them to collectors for a higher price after the set retires and is no longer available at retail outlets.

These LEGO sets can be from any theme, although the popularity of a certain theme will definitely help to increase the value of the set in the aftermarket. Personally, I’ve just begun putting it into practice by buying a few small sets, but from what i’ve been able to learn from various sources online, a good set can see close to 30% increase in value 1-2 years after it has retired from production.

Because I’m a LEGO Star Wars fan, I only seek to invest in sets from this highly popular theme, though some of the things mentioned below can apply to all sets.

Local LEGO Shopping!

Hi guys, I’m back! This is my 2nd LEGO Blog Entry, and today, I’m gonna be talking about where and when I usually buy my LEGO Sets, whether its from overseas, locally or online. This entry is going to be much longer, so I apologize.

As we all know, LEGO is an expensive but fun hobby to have and sustain. Living in the beautiful country of Singapore doesn’t help matters much, as local prices of LEGO can be much much higher (30%-40%) than other countries such as the USA and the EU region.

For example, the set below, 75035 Kashyyyk Troopers retails in the USA for about $12.99 USD, whereas in Singapore, this small set with only 99 pieces already retails for $26.90 SGD at local departmental stores and toy shops!

For those of us who have had the opportunity to travel outside of Asia once or twice, you would know that such price discrepancies aren’t limited to certain sets, but actually occur across the entire range of LEGO sets. As such, we take advantage of these rare holidays overseas to purchase LEGO.

Or at least, as a teen that's what I often do anyway.

As a teen, I don’t really have much money to spend (Or any at all really), so I’m really pressed to get the most out of every dollar I have. This means saving up money from my allowance the entire year, for that one Departmental Store sale, or an overseas holiday to splurge and fulfil my LEGO cravings for the next 6 months or so.

And because of this, I find myself becoming much like my mother: Researching online and sifting through various advertisements and shop listings from various departmental stores island-wide, or any sales to find a good bargain before making any purchases.

After a few years of repeating this process, I have found a few good retailers who can consistently be relied upon, for good LEGO sales and deals. Below is a list of 4 local retailers, arranged in no particular order.
