Hi all, I’m back this week with my second ever LEGO Star Wars set review! Its been a really long week, and its been an equally long weekend! So Im back with more posts for you.
As with last week’s edition, I’m gonna be reviewing this set in 3 sections, based on its Minifigures, Playability and Investment Potential. So without further ado, here’s this week’s set! 75001 Republic Troopers VS. Sith Troopers!

This set was released last year in January 2013, it retails here in Singapore for SGD $27.90, and in the USA for USD$12.99, again this is another example of the huge price difference between LEGO in Singapore and in the USA, UK and EU.
This set contains only 63 pieces making it the smallest set excluding the LEGO Star Wars Planets Series, and contains 4 awesome Exclusive Minifigures, as well as a really cool Speeder!
As with all my small sets and Battle Packs, I wanted to get my hands on one as quickly and cheaply as possible, so as usual, I headed down to Toy Station at Serene Centre to buy it. You can check out what other cool LEGO Products they have here: http://www.toybrickstation.com/
So, onto the first section, the Minifigures.
Apologies for the usual Poor Quality
The Minifigures of this set are by far the coolest combination I have ever seen in a set, with 4 totally exclusive Minifigures in just 1 set, not to mention at a relatively low price of $28! For me, I’m a huge LEGO Star Wars troopers collector, so I really enjoyed this set.
As you can see from the Photo above, this set comes with 2 Republic Troopers and 2 Sith Troopers, one in red and the other in black. All 4 of these Minifigures are from the Old Republic Game, and part of the Star Wars Expanded Universe. These Minifigures are really detailed, and the Republic Trooper with his Heavy Cannon really steals the show!
The Black Sith Troopers have been seen in previous LEGO Sets, but the Red Sith Trooper is completely new, and the Black one has awesome new Leg Printing, something that wasn't on its previous edition.
My favourite minifigure is the Republic Trooper, those guys are so detailed, I can imagine why LEGO had to cut back on the piece count due to the extra printing costs.
Personally, this is my favorite Battle Pack so far purely because of its awesome mini figures alone, so i would strongly recommend this set to many LEGO Star Wars Minifigure collector!
The price tag however, may be a bit too high for its low piece count of 63, but for the Minifigures alone, I think its worth it.
So for the Minifigures section, I rank this set a 9/10! For all its exclusives!
Now for its Playability.

Other than its really cool Minifigures, this set also comes with a nice Sith Trooper Speeder, that you can mount one of your Sith Troopers on to wage war against the Republic.
The Speeder is another ordinary vehicle that is remarkably sturdy given the relatively low number of pieces used to build it, and comes with the usual LEGO Signature flick-fire missiles.
The Speeder isn't really that impressive in terms of playability, but design wise, I think its excellent. I can really imagine a bunch of these lined up in a row in someone’s MOC creation or army. In terms of play-quality, I think this set is slightly disappointing, but purely for its awesome designs and details, its great for display.
For Playability, I rank this set 5/10!
Last but not least, Investment Potential.
I have pretty high hopes for this set, in terms of the returns that its gonna fetch on the Secondary market. Star Wars The Old Republic is a pretty popular video game, and this set really caters to the small group of gamers who enjoyed the game, and enjoy collecting LEGO.
Despite being part of the Expanded Universe and not officially part of Star Wars (At least, according to Disney), I have no doubts that this set will do well after it goes EOL in the next year or so.
Battle Packs in general do pretty well after they retire from retail shops, and this one is probably one of the best ever made. The 3 exclusive mini figures definitely would raise its value, considering the 1 mini figure that wasn't an exclusive to this set only makes an appearance in a SGD$170++ set.
This set would be great for investing and parting out, the mini figures themselves are a huge draw for collectors, and I myself have sold of a few of them at a small profit, and thats while they're still available on shelves!
Its relatively small price tag of SGD $27.90 really helps to minimize the capital needed, so do stock up on this set when its on Sale or Clearance!
On a side note, some checks on eBay and Facebook Listings show that this set is highly popular, and fetches about SGD $15.00 currently, meaning if you purchase online from Amazon, you can still make a profit!
So for Investment Potential, this set ranks 9/10!!

So that concludes my 2nd Review! My final score for this set is a solid 8.5/10! Meaning you should definitely pick this set up no matter what! And be sure to stock up on these for investment if you ever see them on sale!
