Post-Christmas and a New Year in 2015!

*Cue party noises, Christmas carols and a lot of other stuff*

OK so now that the mandatory celebratory festivities are over, on the more dour stuff.

Just kidding.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!

So its the last couple of days of the year, and everyone's favorite gift-giving holiday has finally come to a close. 2015 is right on our doorstep, with loads of surprises and disappointments just waiting to drop down on us from above like an incontinent pigeon.

I hope all of you have gotten your fill of the 2014 LEGO sets because very soon, we could see (or not see) them vanishing from shelves and being replaced with the 2015 LEGO sets. Us Singaporean LEGO Fans always appreciate the opportunity to spend our money on overpriced items, and use our PhDs to figure out ways to bring them in at half price from the USA.

We've started getting peeks at the new LEGO sets starting in June, and now even more information is surfacing regarding the new Promotional Polybags that will be available in 2015. Furthermore, we've even gotten the set names for some 2015 June release sets. The determination of LEGO Fans worldwide never fails to strike fear into my heart.

That aside, Singapore fans can look forward to some new developments in the local LEGO scene. This year, we experienced the joy and disappointment of the opening of our first ever LEGO Certified Store (LCS) and its piddling Pick-A-Brick selection. Next year, we can hope to see 3 more LCSes, at other BricksWorld locations and even a new one at Festive Hotel in Resorts World Sentosa.

As for me, I'm going to continue working on this blog and churning out the rest of the HK LEGO Shopping articles from my trip. You should expect the next post pretty soon (Read: Today). I'm also starting to get into the whole LEGO Buying/Selling business with my recent purchases of the Super Star Destroyer and Imperial Shuttle for investment purposes. As a 15 year old with pretty much no experience, this is gonna be very refreshing, and pretty fun from what I've experienced so far. You can check out my Carousell here. Maybe I'll even go into a bit of Web-designing so I can create my own seller's website. Who knows, its never too late to try I guess.

So this is me, SEP, signing off for the year!

10 Days in Hong Kong

Well, that was fun. This has been something like my 5th trip to Hong Kong with my family, partly driven by the need for flight transits and partly driven by the need for Disneyland (my siblings), but the 1st time I've visited the acclaimed LEGO haven that is In's Point.

This post is going to be just a general description of my trip to Hong Kong, and will be followed by more detailed posts regarding the LEGO aspect of my vacation. Since this is a LEGO-oriented blog, i'll be skipping most parts of my trip, and just describing the parts relating to my favorite toy line.

So first off, a brief outline of my trip. Over the course of 10 days, I visited multiple LEGO-selling stores around the Kowloon area. For those of you who don't know where Kowloon is, go Google it. The first 2 days of my trip I spent at the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort (For the 5th Time in Forever), and I can't deny that I did enjoy myself. Interestingly, the Disneyland Hotel Gift Shoppe was where I spotted the first LEGO item.

In those 2 days I also visited the CityGate Outlet Mall, located in Lantau Island, which was just a short MTR Ride away from the Airport and Disneyland Resort. Here, there's a small shop that sells nothing but LEGO, similar to the Monobrand Stores we have here. The shop's name is Michael's Toys (Interestingly, it is run by a woman) and you can find more information here.

Michael's Toys has a pretty nice selection of LEGO Sets, as disorganized as it may seem. Sadly, I didn't take any pictures while I was there as we were kinda rushing for lunch.

They had an AMAZING selection of LEGO Minifigure Keychains, with pretty much every Keychain LEGO ever released. They also had some really rare sets like the UCS RS-D2, Sandcrawler, Super Star Destroyer, Maersk Line Triple E and both of the Volkswaagen Models. Because of the exchange rate, even at MSRP the sets are cheaper than what they retail for here in Singapore.

Well, I guess one good side-effect of the Occupy Central protests was that Disneyland was pretty empty with most attractions having 5-10 minute wait times at most. I heard this was because China had blocked most of the tourist Visas entering Hong Kong.

So after Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, we immediately moved into another hotel located in Kowloon. The hotel was very conveniently located in Harbor City, a 5 minute walk away from the ferry terminal, Tsim Sha Tsui MTR Station and the famous Nathan Road shopping belt. If you're wondering, it was the Marco Polo Gateway hotel and the rates and rooms were pretty good. A family of 5 was able to very comfortably squeeze into a suite, with a living area to spare!

Very very conveniently, Harbor City was also home to Toys R Us's Flagship Store in Hong Kong. They had a very nice selection of LEGO sets and displays. I could go on and on about this ONE location alone, but that would take forever. So instead, I'll be writing a separate mini-report on it.

The very day we arrived in Kowloon, we headed to In's Point that evening. For those of you who aren't familiar with the abundance of information regarding this LEGO haven, it's located right outside one of the exits of Yau Ma Tei MTR station, along Nathan Road. Even more conveniently, its situated RIGHT NEXT to a HSBC Bank in case you need to get extra Hong Kong Dollars.

Again, there will be another separate post on In's Point alone. As you can see, I am a master at the Art of Procrastination.

Well, along the way, I also visited 2 of the Brickstime stores in Hong Kong. For an introduction, Brickstime is basically Hong Kong's answer to our Bricks World or Secret Chamber mono-brand LEGO stores, complete with polybags and high prices. I didn't buy anything from any of these stores though.

ANOTHER POST WILL BE CENTERED AROUND BRICKSTIME

Thank you.

So, now to the important part. As you may have noticed, I have not mentioned anything regarding the LEGO I had bought this trip. I have to admit, this is one of the most LEGO-fruitful trips ever, save for my June Trip to Boston, MA and my 2012 Trip to Orlando, FL which got me interested in LEGO all over again,

This trip however, saw me spending the most on LEGO, compared to what I had bought in the previous vacations. According to my parents' calculations, WE had spent a whopping SGD $3000~ on LEGO alone, more than enough to cover our accommodation or our airfare.

And yes, I said WE. Even my sister and parents are hooked on LEGO now. Yay for me I guess?

So here it is:

All the LEGO we bought from Hong Kong.

For your information, we had bought 2 10221 UCS Super Star Destroyers, 1 10212 UCS Imperial Shuttle, 1 9492 TIE Fighter and a bunch of Parts and Polybags.

Unfortunately for me, the UCS Super Star Destroyer and the UCS Imperial Shuttle are for my parents. This means I won't be able to build them anytime in the foreseeable future should my parents decide to sell them.

That leaves me with the TIE Fighter, Clone Turbo Tank Microfighter, Planets Tantive IV, Polybags and some Parts.

Oh, and I also got 3 minifigures and a LEGO minifigure watch for my brother.

Majority of these purchases were from In's Point and Toys R Us, so I'll be going into detail about the prices in their respective posts. (Yay PROCRASTINATION)

So yeah, thats all for this post. Have a great Holiday!

Some updates, and Purchases

Hi All! Sorry for the long gap between posts! This is just a quick update on some stuff I'm gonna be doing in the near future.

This weekend, I'll be heading up to LEGOLand Malaysia for some family fun and shopping! I'll probably do some trip review/guide thing, as best as my phone's camera can manage. For those of you who've already been there, I'd appreciate ANY tips you may have regarding LLM! Just leave a comment below!

Next Thursday, I'll be flying up to Hong Kong and visiting In's Point for the very first time! So I'll be doing the trip review thingy, and maybe writing up a beginner's guide to shopping there for newcomers like me. Any tips? Do leave a comment!

Also, I've just come back from Malacca this Monday and I've got some really nice purchases!

As you can see, these are from Parkson's Departmental Store in Malaysia. They're currently running a pretty good 50% off sale on LEGO that's ending this month. I managed to get the entire Series 3 of the Retired Planets Series!

Also they're having some sort of Gift-With-Purchase promotion.

Lastly, this weekend is Black Friday/Cyber Monday!

For those of you who don't' know, Black Friday and Cyber Monday refer to the days around Thanksgiving in the USA, and are well known for the major sales. Last couple of years, LEGO.com had really nice clearance on sets (50% off or more) as well as TRIPLE VIP Points! Other retailers like Amazon are also in on it, so do take this chance to shop around! Better have it than regret it!

Brief Shopping Trip at LEGOLAND Malaysia

So this weekend, my family and I decided to head up to LEGOLAND Malaysia in Johor for a little family fun with some friends. On the upside, it was a really fun experience with all the rides and miniland displays with some pretty cheap food given the current exchange rate of SGD to MYR. On the downside, shopping was rather disappointing in terms of pricing and variety.

This post will be covering only SOME of the stuff at LEGOLAND, largely because I forgot to take pictures. Sorry!!

So the first place I went when we got into the park was the Star Wars Miniland! Me being a Star Wars fan, I just couldn't miss this awesome attraction with dozens of model displays equipped with cinematic lighting and effects.

Sorry for the poor photo quality! What I found good about this attraction was that it was entirely indoors, even the gift shop and queue area! Making it perfect for the current rainy season here in South East Asia. The gift shop had a very good variety of Star Wars sets, and is one of the few shops in the park where you can find Star Wars themed sets and merchandise other than The Big Shop. I bought a nice Star Wars magnet set with removable Minifigures to add to my collection, for just SGD $9! Everything else was about the same price as in Singapore.

If you're into UCS and larger sets, the shop has a good assortment of UCS Sets like the B-Wing, Death Star II, Red-Five X-Wing, Ewok Village and the Sandcrawler. These seem to be the only sets that are actually cheaper than the RRP in Singapore!

In the rest of the park, there are small shops spread out in each themed land each offering their own merchandise and sets. For example, the shops in the Castle/Medieval Themed Land stocks Friends, Castle, Lord of the Rings/Hobbit and Seasonal merchandise, while the Adventure Themed Land stocks CREATOR, Chima, Ninjago and for some reason, Galaxy Squad. The Adventurer's Depot at the Adventure-Themed land also serves as a clearance/sale centre, where retiring sets from themes like Galaxy Squad are sold at a slight discount. Do take the opportunity to go to the shops in every Land to buy anything you want! This is because while The Big Shop does have a wide variety of all themes, they don't stock all the sets and items from every theme. For example, the Arctic Sets and Polar Accessory Packs were widely available in the LEGO City Land, but were largely unavailable in The Big Shop. The same goes for the Star Wars UCS Sets. So do take the chance to buy whatever you want, to save time on backtracking later on!

These are the Seasonal Polybags that were available when I visited, I could only find them at the King's Market at the Castle/Medieval Themed Land.

This was the the Mini Market, near the entrance/exit of the park. Pretty good deal at roughly SGD $4 each, they make very good stocking stuffers or souvenir gifts. You can find them pretty much everywhere in the park, except the Star Wars Miniland of course.

The Big Shop from the Outside.

The Star Wars Collection. Pretty good variety, but not as much as at the Miniland. Got a couple of Toys R Us exclusives and UCS Sets, a lot more at the Miniland though. Not much in terms of LEGO Star Wars Apparel either.

More stuff, City and Minecraft. Not much City Arctic here in The Big Shop though. Much more available at the LEGO-City Themed Land.

These were available at the Cashier for RM 29.90 each. Not a bad deal as they're quite rare here in SG and for only SGD $12 each. These were only available at The Big Shop, so do check them out!

More LEGO CREATOR Eagle Polybags and Brick Separators.

The Brick Shop. This is where the Pick-A-Brick and Build-A-Minifigure was. PAB was RM 45 for 100g, and BAM was RM 25 for 3 if I'm not wrong. Pretty good deal, but the shop was rather lacking in variety of parts for both the PAB and BAM.

1 of 2 PAB walls. Good array of colors and parts, only problem was that you either can't find the part or color, or you find the right part in the wrong color! Didn't buy anything from here, price-wise isn't very cheap either. Hopefully the new LEGO Certified Stores in Singapore will be better!

So that's all for this quick review/guide! I'd definitely like to visit again as this park is perfect for young ages. Some rides and roller coaster even had 2 sub-rides of different heights/speeds/difficulty for the younger ones and older ones. Definitely a place to visit with friends!

I'll be flying up to Hong Kong this Thursday and visiting the fabled In's Point while I'm there. Do check back some time near Christmas for a guide/review of that too! I'll be taking much more pictures and making sure it's way more comprehensive than this one!

LEGO Store Opening in Singapore!

Great news! According to local LEGO Sites like Brickfinder on Facebook, there seems to be a LEGO-Certified store opening soon right here in Singapore!

This hasn't been confirmed officially by LEGO, but there has been an exact store address provided. Currently, it is to be at Suntec City somewhere on the 3rd Floor.

Some additional details include numerous product displays like in any other LEGO Brand Store overseas, and our very own Pick-A-Brick wall!

Also, Singapore will finally see Exclusive products released here at the same time as te US/UK/EU regions! Great news for all of us LEGO Collectors!

There's also some talk of an exclusive set giveaway to celebrate its opening on the 29th November 2014, so for all of us LEGO Fans, we'll be sure to mark that date on our calendar!

For me, it's sad to say I won't be going down for the opening because I'll be at LEGOLAND Malaysia instead. I guess it's quite and unusual dilemma! Do expect to see a trip report on the shopping at LLM!

Quick Update

Hi all! Sorry for the lack of posts recently, it's just that I've been really busy with some personal things, both LEGO and Non-LEGO.
So recently I've been working on some shelving, trying to display all my LEGO sets and minimize the space they take up in the cupboard. Hence, I've had a tough time making stable supports for each and every vehicle or set. Currently I'm making simple pillars of white bricks, on bases of round 6-6 plates. If any of you readers have any plates to let go, do let me know!
Also, I'll be visiting LEGOLAND Malaysia in a few weeks, as well as Hong Kong in December! I'm really excited for these, and I'll definitely take lots of photos and do lots of shopping. Maybe I'll do some photo reviews, but don't expect really hi-res pics from my iPhone's Camera.
Lastly, my Set Reviews are currently put on hold. This is because all of them are pretty much in a mess right now due to my shelves/display cabinets, and I have no idea which sets come with what, or where they are for that matter.
So that's all for this update! Have a great weekend!

LEGO Loot from LEGO HQ in Denmark!

So, my dad went on a business trip recently to Billund, Denmark. On the trip, he got to visit the LEGO Employee Store or P-Shoppen, and he got quite a number of LEGO Sets for me and my siblings.
LEGO P-SHOP
Interestingly, the sets that he bought in Billund were much cheaper than the RRP we have here in Singapore, and even that of the USA which pretty much has the cheapest prices due to the exchange rate and everything.

The Loot
These are the sets he bought: 75053 The Ghost, 41035 Heartlake Juice Bar, 2 21109 Exo-Suits, 2 30247 ARC-170 Polybags, 2 30244 Anakin's Jedi Interceptor Polybags and 30115 Jungle Boat Polybag.

And no. In case you were wondering, the LEGO Friends stuff is for my Sister, not for me.
And yes. I did buy 2 Exo-Suits, 1 for Me and 1 for my Brother.

For those of you who are more discerning, you may have noticed that there was a parts error in the earlier production runs of the 75053 The Ghost set, in which one minifigure had Black hair instead of brown. I've just built the set with my brother, and unfortunately this edition came with the Black hair. Looks like I'll be getting another parts order soon.

21109 LEGO IDEAS Exo-Suit

75053 LEGO Star Wars The Ghost

30244 LEGO Star Wars Anakin's Jedi Interceptor

In case some of you were wondering about the prices, all the sets he bought as shown in the first picture only cost a total of 990 DKK, which is around $214.25 SGD, inclusive of taxes. This is a VERY GOOD DEAL, considering The Ghost alone retails locally for $179.90 SGD and the Heartlake Juice Bar for $59.90 SGD.

The Exo-Suits were also much cheaper, setting us back only $32.46 SGD each, and the polybags only $3.25 SGD each.

Considering the Exo-Suit and Polybags are really hard to find in Singapore, this has been a great shopping trip. Thanks Dad!

On a side note, this has made me really want to go for the LEGO Inside Tour! I guess thats one more thing to add to my "Bucket List".

More LEGO Star Wars 2015 Set Images!

Hi guys! Hope you've had a great weekend so far!

I've been surfing the nets recently, and I've come across some more interesting images of the 2015 Star Wars sets, due to be in local stores around Christmas.

Some of you may have noticed how the previous deluge of images that I mentioned in my previous update missed out on a few sets, namely the Microfighters 75072 ARC-170, 75085 Hailfire Droid and 75087 Anakin's Custom Jedi Starfighter.

As you can see from the above images, the sets look fantastic, a great addition to the existing Star Wars line of sets.

Interestingly, you might want to note the Clone Trooper Lieutenant in the 75085 Hailfire Droid. He looks like the same one that was given away in Polybag form at LEGOLAND California and the May 4th event last year. So it looks like my earlier guesses are right! This is great news for collectors like me, meaning we can now get this not-so-exclusive-anymore minifigure through regular retail outlets.

You can check out the images here:

I'm Back! Blog Update 18/10/14

Hi guys! I'm back!

After the long break for my exams, I'm happy to say that studies are no more (for the moment) and I can get back to LEGO. I apologise for the lack of updates, but as of Friday, 17th October, everything will be back to normal.

In my absence, a few interesting developments have cropped up, which I will be elaborating upon in this post, and what I have planned for the future.

As the school holidays approach, I'm planning to do a photo tour of ALL the LEGO Stores in Singapore. Some of you may have noted that i previously published a post cataloging my Top 5 visited LEGO Stores, so this will be way more comprehensive, with videos of the shops and their special or exclusive products.

On top of that, I have recently gotten into the habit of collecting LEGO Star Wars Polybags, so I plan to write an article all about them, for various aspects such as where to buy them, and what to look out for.

As for the set reviews that I have been publishing, I'll be interspersing them with my regular articles, so that this blog doesn't become one big LEGO customer feedback page. Also, I'll be writing an article about my collection at large. As I mentioned before, I apologize for not reviewing every single LEGO set, partially because I don't own all of them, but also because I am too lazy to write 1500 word reviews for each of them

If you guys do want me to review a particular LEGO Star Wars set in my collection, I will do so. Just leave a comment, or send me and email or something.

This year, I'll also be visiting the LEGO "Heaven", Hong Kong. I've heard a lot about this place, particularly In's Point, and I will definitely be checking it out. Apart from shopping for LEGO, I also hope to make a comprehensive walkthrough/shopping guide for the place, something that I have been unable to find on the Internet. So look out for that in late December!

Oh yeah, I almost forgot. My father will be visiting the LEGO Factory in Billund, Denmark on a business trip. I have no idea which factory or locations he will be visiting, but he has said that it will be a "Factory" and he will be visiting one of the shops. Not very helpful, I know. I have asked him to take some pictures if he can, and buy some stuff for me and my brother, so at least I have that to look forward to.

So, thats all I have planned for the school holidays, thanks for reading!

Toys R' Us Shopping! 3/10/14

Hi All! I'm back again after 2 weeks of intense studying and mugging leading up to my exams!

I apologize again for not updating this blog as often as I should, its just that my exams take top priority right now, but after October 18th, things should be back to normal!

So today I went down to United Square at Novena, to check out the new Brickbusta Promotion which is the SG equivalent of Bricktober I guess. For those who are unfamiliar, this is the Link: http://www.toysrus.com.sg/inside/LEGO-Brickbusta2014-main.htm

LEGO Star Wars 2015 Sets News

Hi Guys! I’m back!

As I’ve mentioned in previous entries, i’ll be going away for the next 3-4 weeks to prepare for my End-Of-Year Exams, so I probably won’t be posting as much as I used to until November. So today, I’d like to post a quick update on some of the more interesting news I’ve seen with regards to next year’s LEGO Sets!

I think by now, most of you should’ve seen the leaked Preliminary Set Images of next year’s LEGO sets, and for those of you who haven’t, you can view them right here:

LEGO Star Wars 75060 UCS Slave I Revealed!

Hi All! Hope you’re having a great week! I came across an interesting piece of news on several LEGO Fan-sites and Facebook Pages. Introducing, the LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collectors Series Slave I!

©The Lego Group, Photo Credits to Brickset.com

So far, the only information we have is the box art, images of the build and the minifigures, and still no idea when its slated to be released or how much it’ll cost. The release date could range from anywhere in the next month as a late Exclusive addition to the Summer Wave, or even May 2015 as LEGO’s May 4th Release set, much like this year’s 75059 Sandcrawler.

The set contains 1996 Pieces, which is pretty OK compared to the 3200+ of the Sandcrawler, and comes with 5 Minifigures, Boba Fett, Han Solo in person and in Carbonite, a Bespin Guard and a Stormtrooper.

75004 Z-95 Review

Hi all, sorry for the long delay between articles. As most of you would know, the school term is coming to a close and the End-Of-Year Exams are getting nearer and nearer. As such, I’ll be cutting back on the posts, and shortening most of them until my exams are over in mid-late October. (Because any future LEGO purchases ride heavily on my results)

So without further ado, today’s post will be another set review, this time featuring LEGO Star Wars 75004 Z-95 Headhunter.

This set was released last year, as part of the December-January (2012-2013) wave of LEGO Sets. It contains 373 Pieces, 3 MInifigures and retails in the USA and EU for $49.99, and here in Singapore for SGD $89.90 or so.

LEGO Star Wars 2015 Sets Details!

Hi all, just a quick update!

I was browsing the usual LEGO Sites and found this really interesting piece of news:

Some LEGO Star Wars 2015 Set Details
Posted: 23 Aug 2014 10:52 PM PDT

Hulk_Smash on over Eurobricks has given details on some of the new 2015 LEGO Star Wars sets that we reported on last week. The details are fairly vague due to the person describing the sets from memory. Again, the details are from prelimary pictures from a retailer catalog.

Imperial Troop Transport (75078) – Similar to the Imperial Landing Craft (7659) from 2007. There are four Stormtroopers.

Shadow Troopers (75079) – Includes a small vehicle. Battle pack includes two Dark Guards which I assume could be the Emperor’s Shadow Guards and two Shadow Troopers.

AAT (75080) – Jar Jar Binks makes his return in a LEGO Star Wars set. There will also be another Gungan minifigure. No mentioning if it’s just a generic Gungan or a major character like Boss Nass or Captain Roos Tarpals. The set also has a Battle Droid. Retail price is about £25.

T-16 Skyhopper (75081) – Comes with some sort of pilot minifigure, a Tusken Raider, and a womp rat.

Geonosis Troopers (75089) – Includes a small AT-RT. Clone Troopers are the same as the Kashyyyk Troopers (75035), but with a sandy brown color.

LEGO Star Wars 75058 MTT Found!

Hi all, just a quick update regarding one of the new LEGO Star Wars sets for the 2014 Summer Wave.

Photo Credits to my Younger Brother

Just yesterday, I was notified by my younger brother that he had found the new LEGO Star Wars MTT (Multi Troop Transport). The set was spotted at the Toys “R” Us store at United Square Shopping Centre.

As this was found at a Toys “R” Us store, and the fact that it is reported to be a retailer exclusive in the United States of America, I think it is safe to assume that other Toys “R” Us outlets in Singapore should have it in stock as well, much like the 75025 Jedi Defender-Class Cruiser and the recent 75046 Coruscant Police Gunship.

75002 AT-RT Review

Hi All! It’s the weekend again! I’m back today with another LEGO Star Wars Set Review, for 75002 AT-RT!

Before we delve into the review itself, I’d like to make a quick update that from now on, my reviews are gonna be shorter than the previous ones, and before I get any questions regarding why, this is because of school, with the sudden onslaught of revision and homework as it gets nearer to my EOY Exams.

As such, in order to make it possible to keep churning out articles as frequently, I’m gonna have to shorten them by some. This is also partially because I want to get to the new 2014 sets as soon as possible!

So without further ado, lets get on with the review!

©The Lego Group, Photo Credits to Brickset.com

The set 75002 AT-RT was released in January 2013, as part of LEGO’s “Winter” Wave of LEGO Star Wars sets. It consists of 222 pieces, 4 minifigures and retails here in Singapore for $50.90, and in the US and UK for $19.99 (again, an excellent example of the price gap).

In case you were wondering, AT-RT stands for All Terrain Recon Transport, and appears in Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith for a brief moment, and was heavily featured in Star Wars: The Clone Wars cartoon series. The AT-RT is also the precursor to the much larger AT-ST seen in Star Wars Episode 6: Return of the Jedi.

I bought this set at a great discount of just USD $15.99 (SGD $20.00) from Amazon a year back, and had it shipped to a friend in the USA, who unboxed it and brought it back to Singapore. Unfortunately, in transit, he misplaced the stickers (not that I mind, I hate stickers anyway).

Toys R' Us SALE 15/8/14-17/8/14

Hi All! It's just 1 more day to the weekend! And to top off this week, I bring news of a Toys R' Us Sale, happening this weekend at City Square Mall.

©Toys "R" Us, Inc.

This weekend, local toys retailer Toys R' Us will be holding a "Branded Toys" Sale, at the City Square Mall's Atrium. Local sources have reported that LEGO is among the products on sale, particularly sets from the City (No Arctic), Chima, Ninjago, Star Wars and Creator Themes!

These sets look like they'll be having the traditional Toys R' Us fixed-price discount, which means it can go both ways for most of the sets there, either being really good sale deals, or totally overpriced items.

Maybe I'll head down this weekend just to check it out, but I probably won't be buying anything (still saving for my HK trip, hehe), and besides, I still have school to contend with.

Have a nice weekend!

Robinsons SALE 13/8/14-16/8/14

Hi All! I’ve just got news of an upcoming Robinsons Sale happening this week! Unfortunately, this sale is limited to Robinsons OCBC Cardmembers, so for those of us without the membership, you're gonna have to give this one a miss.

The sale is a typical Robinsons Closed-Door event, open only to Robinsons Cardmembers. At the sale itself, there will be staff members posted outside the entrances, to check your Robinsons Card, and hand out the shopping vouchers that Members are entitled to.

As you can see from the image above, the sale will run on 3 days, with a different venue each day. The stores will run the sale from 10:30am to 11:00pm each day. The respective Venues are: Robinsons Orchard, Wednesday 13th August; Robinsons Raffles City, Thursday 14th August; Robinsons Jem, Saturday 16th August.

These are the vouchers they will be giving out:

$10 off with $100 spent
$30 off with $180 spent
$60 off with $300 spent

Also, I came across this particular nugget while browsing their Sale Catalog

The new LEGO Simpsons House! This is retailing for $399.90 at Robinsons, and they are giving away a free LEGO City Play Scene Sticker Set with your purchase!

For those of you who are going down, I have read the fine print on the vouchers, so it seems that LEGO is eligible for the discount vouchers this time around. So by my calculations, buying the Simpsons House would cost you about $339 before the rebate is applied, and around $300 after the rebate.

Special Feature: 7914 Mandalorian Battle Pack Review

Hi all! I hope you've been having a great week leading up to the National Day Holiday this weekend! Today I have something special for all of you, my first ever “Throwback Review” of one of my older LEGO Star Wars Sets!

This is the first time i’m reviewing an old set of mine, and I will definitely be doing this more in the future, hopefully as a monthly feature here on my blog, to cover all the LEGO Star Wars sets in my collection, but they will probably be more personal, and shorter on the review aspect. So without further ado, introducing, the 7914 Mandalorian Battle Pack!

This set contains a measly 68 pieces and comes with 4 identical Mandalorian soldiers from Star Wars: The Clone Wars TV Show. This set was released in early 2011, and was retired from LEGO Shop@Home in December 2012. The set retailed for USD $12.99 as most Battle Packs do, and was sold here in Singapore for around SGD $27.90.

LEGO Online Shopping!

Hi all, it’s the weekend again! It’s been a really busy week for me, with all my revision for upcoming tests and such, so you may not see as many blog posts here for the next week or so, until the National Day Holiday. This time, I’m gonna be writing about something most of us LEGO fans do: Online LEGO Shopping!

As many of you know by now, I’m still a teen, and a student at that. As such, I have a limited spending budget for LEGO which is dependent on how much I scrimp and save every week. Hence, I’m always going around looking for the best deals, be it online or at physical shops. And most of the time, I find the best deals online.

So without further ado, below is a list of sites I use when I buy my LEGO Online!

LEGO At SDCC 2014

Hi All! Sorry for the delay in entries again. Today, I will be talking about all the exciting things LEGO released at the recent San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) 2014!

©San Diego Comic Convention

Personally, I have never been to any BrickFair or SDCC before (Partially because it’s half the world away), but I have always followed news of it, and all the awesome reveals of games and stuff.

So, a brief introduction of the SDCC. The SDCC is a convention held annually, in San Diego, California which is on the West Coast of the USA. The SDCC is popular for fans of video games and comics, and increasingly in the last decade, LEGO Fans. LEGO always has a booth at this highly popular convention, and every year, they have awesome previews and giveaways of exclusive sets.

75001 Republic Troopers VS Sith Troopers Review

Hi all, I’m back this week with my second ever LEGO Star Wars set review! Its been a really long week, and its been an equally long weekend! So Im back with more posts for you.

As with last week’s edition, I’m gonna be reviewing this set in 3 sections, based on its Minifigures, Playability and Investment Potential. So without further ado, here’s this week’s set! 75001 Republic Troopers VS. Sith Troopers!

This set was released last year in January 2013, it retails here in Singapore for SGD $27.90, and in the USA for USD$12.99, again this is another example of the huge price difference between LEGO in Singapore and in the USA, UK and EU.

This set contains only 63 pieces making it the smallest set excluding the LEGO Star Wars Planets Series, and contains 4 awesome Exclusive Minifigures, as well as a really cool Speeder!

As with all my small sets and Battle Packs, I wanted to get my hands on one as quickly and cheaply as possible, so as usual, I headed down to Toy Station at Serene Centre to buy it. You can check out what other cool LEGO Products they have here: http://www.toybrickstation.com/

75000 Clone Troopers VS. Droidekas Review!

Hi All! I’m back with my first Set Review post! If you have seen my earlier post, you would know that I will be writing a lot of these in the coming weeks/months, so expect to see more of these!

So, to start us off, the set I’m reviewing today is the LEGO Star Wars 75000 Clone Troopers VS Droidekas! I will be evaluating this set in 3 segments, based on the Minifigures, Playability and Investment Potential.

This set retails in Singapore for SGD $27.90 and in the USA for USD $12.99. That means this set literally costs double the price in Singapore than in the USA! The set comes with 2 Minifigures, and 2 more Brick-Built figures, and totals 124 Pieces. I bought this set at a 15% discount at Toy Station here in Singapore a year ago, slightly decreasing the hole in my student wallet.

UCS Batman Tumbler Revealed!

Hi Guys, I’m back with some very exciting news! This week, USA Today published an article regarding a new LEGO set, the Ultimate Collectors’ Series Batman Tumbler!

This looks to be an extremely cool set, and has a whopping 1,869 Pieces, and retails for $199.99 USD. It comes with 2 minifigures, being Christian Bale’s Batman, and Heath Ledger’s The Joker. This will be the first, and likely the only time these editions of Batman and The Joker will be available through a LEGO Set!

For all of you LEGO Batman or DC fans out there, this set is due to be released in September in the USA, EU and UK, so Singaporean fans are gonna have to wait!

As with all exclusives, LEGO VIP Members will get exclusive early access to this awesome set, starting August 18, a good 2 weeks before anyone else!

Personally, I would definitely get it if I could, but the USD$200 Price tag is gonna burn away my entire shirt, much less a pocket.

So that’s it for this update guys, do leave a comment below whether you will or will not be getting this really cool set!

Thanks to ©brickset.com for the news!
